Michael James Seelman, age 72, of Houghton Lake passed away on Thursday May 9, 2019 at Munson Healthcare-Grayling Hospital with his family by his side.
Michael was born on June 17, 1946 in Saginaw, Michigan to Allen and Nadine (Peters) Seelman. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War where he received a Bronze Star and Purple Heart. Michael was a Michigan State Trooper out of the St. Ignace Post before retiring and moving back to the Houghton Lake area. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, DAV, Purple Heart Foundation and the Michigan Trapping Association where he served as the past President for 10 years. He enjoyed being outdoors and traveling on his Harley.
Michael is survived by his sister-in-law; Sue Seelman of Flint and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother; Allen Seelman.
Military Graveside Honors will be conducted on Wednesday May 15, 2019 at 2:30 pm at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan. Christler Funeral Home-Prudenville Chapel is serving the family. Condolences can be sent to the family online at www.christler-holdship.com
